AC/DC fans watch out for Black Ice

It looks like being an exciting autumn for AC/DC fans. The band’s first studio album for eight years – rumoured to be titled Black Ice – is expected to be released in October, supported by a world tour.

The album was recorded at Bryan Adams’s studio in Vancouver, with producer Brendan O’Brien and long-time audio engineer Mike Fraser.  It will be the band’s 15th studio album and their first collection of new material since Stiff Upper Lip in 2000.

According to some reports, the new album could be marketed in conjunction with the computer game Rock Band. There may also be an exclusive physical distribution deal with a major retailer, rumoured to be Wal-Mart in the US.

Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young – still the most formidable electric guitar brotherhood in rock – AC/DC released their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Since then, they’ve sold nearly 70 million albums in the US alone, making AC/DC one of the five best-selling bands in music history. The band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
