Rod Stewart’s new album Time marks a welcome return to his unique pop/rock style of the 1970s and 1980s. “It’s just a good, old-fashioned Rod Stewart album with a lot of mandolin, acoustic guitar and fiddles, and good storytelling,” said 68-year-old Rod.

It’s his first album of all-new material since 2001’s Human. For the first time in nearly 20 years, he also had a hand in writing most of the songs.

“I’ve reworked the show to play outdoors in large stadiums,” says Waters. “I’ve had to rethink the whole thing. This wide wall stadium show couldn’t have been done 40 years ago.”

A new Jimi Hendrix album, People, Hell and Angels, is to be released in March. It will feature 12 previously unreleased tracks recorded in 1968 and 1969.

It is believed Hendrix originally planned to include the tracks on First Rays of the New Rising Sun, the planned double-album follow-up to Electric Ladyland which he was working on when he died.

The tracks are said to show he was developing “new, experimental directions” and exploring fresh diversions from his legendary guitarwork.

The Doors’ ‘L.A. Woman’ 5-disc set cancelled

January 2, 2012

Visit our main website at: http://www.sh-boommagazine.com

Plans for an ambitious 5-disc super deluxe edition of the Doors’ 1971 album L.A. Woman have been scrapped, according to reports, because the retail price-tag for the set’s planned hard box packaging would not make it commercially viable.

A 2-disc 40th Anniversary special edition will now be released on January 24, followed later this year by a more affordable 3-disc limited edition box set comprising previously unreleased alternate tracks and outtakes. With few or no repeated tracks, the separate 2-disc and 3-disc sets would more or less equal the intended 5-disc version.
